Porady starej wyjadaczki dla młodych tłumaczy 20

Since, for and the Present Perfect  continued

*Since 24 September we can visit the first in Poland and unique in a world scale the underground museum.

Poprawiamy:

Since 24 September we have been able to visit Poland’s first underground museum, a place which is unique on a world scale.

*Since 24th September we will be able to see underground museum – for the first time in Poland and unique on a global scale.

Poprawiamy:

As of  24th September we will be able to see the first underground museum in Poland – with an exhibition which is unique on a global scale.

Lub:
Starting from / From  24th September we will be able to see the first underground museum in Poland – with an exhibition which is unique on a global scale.

Zmiana czasu na przyszły warunkuje też zmianę przyimka z since na from, względnie na as of lub starting from .

*The island was discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1492. It was called Hispaniola. Spaniards had reigned over the island till 1697 when the mighty French kingdom took control and jurisdiction over its western part which was  since then called Santo Domingo. In Poland, it was referred to as Hispaniola in geographical toponymy until the first half of the 19th century when it was named Haiti.

Pomóżmy mu:

The island was discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1492, when it was called Hispaniola. Spaniards ruled the island till 1697, when powerful French pirates took control and jurisdiction over its western part, which at that time/then   had its name changed to Santo Domingo. In Poland it was referred to as Hispaniola in geography until the first half of the 19th century, when it was re-named Haiti.

Inna wersja:

The island was discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1492 and named Hispaniola. It was under Spanish rule until 1697, when a powerful group of French pirates seized control and jurisdiction of its western part, henceforward known as Santo Domingo. In the Polish nomenclature for geographical place-names it was referred to as Hispaniola until the first half of the 19th century, but since then has been called Haiti.

Następny przykład – polskie  zdanie:

Wystawa Vivat Beniowski!

*The exhibition entitled Vivat Beniowski! – nasz wspólny bohater (our common hero) was organised to commemorate the 10th anniversary of founding Consulate General of Slovakia in Kraków. Since that time, it is the fourth exhibition organised jointly by the Consulate and Jagiellonian Library.

Poprawmy wszystkie błędy:

The exhibition entitled Vivat Beniowski! – nasz wspólny bohater (Vivat Beniowski, Our Mutual Hero) has been organised to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the foundation of the Consulate General of Slovakia in Kraków. It is the fourth exhibition to be organised jointly by the Consulate and Jagiellonian Library in the ten years/in the decade.

Wreszcie mamy taki oto tekst polski:

Pierwsza wersja:
*If culture and nature intermingle, it means that they remain in a mutual connection. This  interdependence, mutual influence of the two is encompassed as a subject of environmental history research, sometimes called eco history.  The main goal of this historical subdiscpline, relatively young, but, as we will see soon, not entirely new in Europe, is to widen our understanding of how natural environment influences man since the dawn of humanity, and the degree of how he himself shaped and influenced the surrounding environment, leading to various results.

Od razu zwraca uwagę niekompatybilność since i Present Simple. Poprawiamy na:

If culture and nature intermingle, it means that they are mutually interdependent. This  interdependence, their mutual influence, is the subject of environmental history research, sometimes called eco-history.  The main goal of this historical sub-discipline, relatively young, but, as we will soon see, not entirely new in Europe, is to widen our understanding of how the natural environment has been influencing man since the dawn of human history, and the degree to which  he himself has shaped and influenced his environment, leading to various results.

* The penetration of culture and nature understood in this way makes them remain in bilateral relation. This interdependence, mutual interaction of the two is the subject of environmental history, sometimes referred to as ecohistory. The main objective of this relatively young, but, as it turns out in a moment, not quite new in Europe – historical sub-discipline is to deepen the understanding of the scope of influence of the environment, to which humans have been exposed since ancient times, and of the extent to which they shaped and influenced the surrounding environment themselves, generating a variety of consequences.

Poprawiamy:

The penetration of culture and nature understood in this way puts them in a bilateral relation. This interdependence, their mutual interaction, is the subject of environmental history, sometimes referred to as ecohistory. The main objective of this relatively young sub-discipline of history, which, as we shall soon see, is not quite so new in Europe – is to further our understanding of the scope of the influence of the environment to which humans have been exposed since ancient times, and of the extent to which they have been shaping and influencing their environment themselves, generating a variety of consequences.

Wreszcie trzeci młody rycerz translacji tak oto kruszył kopię:

* The way nature and culture are intermingled causes their relation to remain two-sided. This correlation and interaction is the main subject of research of environmental history, which is sometimes called eco-history. The main goal of this, relatively young, but not entirely new in Europe, sub-discipline of history is the enhancement of understanding of the way the environment influenced human throughout our history and the level at which we shaped and influenced the environment, which produced various effects.

The way nature and culture are intermingled makes their relation bilateral. This correlation and interaction is the main subject of research in environmental history, which is sometimes called eco-history. The main goal of this sub-discipline of history which is relatively young  but (as it turns out) not entirely new in Europe, is to enhance our understanding of the way the environment has been influencing humankind  throughout our history and the degree to which  we have been shaping and influencing  our environment, which has produced various effects.
